Services
Prayer services at Temple Beth Shalom invite our members to worship and study. By praying together, we celebrate our community, become more involved in one another’s lives, and grow closer to God.
Friday Evening Services
Our Friday evening service celebrates the beginning of Shabbat. The traditional name for this service is Kabbalat Shabbat, the Welcoming of Shabbat. We welcome Shabbat with song, English readings, and traditional liturgy. We relish the special atmosphere of Friday night, the chance to leave behind the hectic work week, and the sacred process of ushering in a day where we can draw closer to God and be refreshed.
Friday evening services begin at 6:00 p.m.
Tot Shabbat – Five times throughout the year we have a service on Friday evenings at 5:30pm with teacher Jordana Lewis, that is specially created for our youngest members. The Tot Shabbat service is hands-on and playful to encourage our littlest ones to join in the joy of celebrating Shabbat with our community.
Special Friday Evening Services
Shabbat Shirah – One Friday a month, we have a special Shabbat service that emphasizes the beauty and spirituality of music. We join in singing familiar melodies, accompanied by volunteer instrumentalists from our community, to create a Shabbat of Song!
Check our calendar to see when these special services will be held each month.
Saturday Morning Services
Our Shabbat morning service is warm and participatory. It is often led by Rabbi Tamar Malino from the pages of the new Conservative Siddur Lev Shalem, but we also regularly provide children and adults in our congregation the opportunity to lead, chant, and read from Torah. If you are interested in leading a portion of our service or chanting Torah, please contact our Temple office. We are happy to include you!
Saturday morning services begin at 9:30 a.m.
Children in Our Services
While we do have special services that focus on inviting children to worship, children of all ages are always welcome to join us in any service. Please help yourself to the toy bags at the back of the sanctuary if little hands need something extra to occupy them during the service.
Childcare is occasionally available during services. Check our calendar to find out whether childcare is available on a particular day, and contact us if you have questions or particular childcare needs.
